I love children's literature and I'm excited to share my love with you.

I grew up in Tacoma, Washington and knew at a very young age that I wanted to be a writer.  In kindergarten, I won an award for writing a story about a naughty bunny (which was heavily influenced by Beatrix Potter).

I was the editor-in-chief of my high school newspaper and went on to earn a B.A. in journalism from the University of Nevada (Go Wolfpack!).  Afterward, I earned my M.Ed. in literacy education and taught elementary school students for nearly a decade, collecting lots of ideas for stories along the way.

Since 2010, I've been a full-time mom to three wonderful kids who keep me totally immersed in children's books (and good ideas).  My family and I now make our home in Central Texas.

My debut picture book SATURDAYS ARE FOR STELLA (Illustrated by Charlie Eve Ryan, Page Street Kids) comes out in 2020. My debut picture book biography THE STARS BECKONED (Illustrated by Courtney Dawson, Philomel) about the life of American astronaut Edward White releases in 2021.

When I'm not mothering, reading or writing, you can find me running, traveling or napping!
